n Technics and Civilization (1929) Lewis Mumford identifies language & the cognitive system for making sense of empirical data as the two most significant technologies to emerge from the integration of humans’ physical and mental capabilities. Juxtaposing this insight against Bernard Stiegler’s concept of technogenesis which details the evolutionary overlap between biology and technology, Systems of a Greater Sum begins from the assumption that humans have always already been posthuman and will be about the expanded concept of technology towards the twin tasks of politicizing what is at stake in the ongoing cybernetic revolution while shedding light on the technological underpinnings of the larger social fields.
